gave evidence before a subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee conducting hearings on the “Civil Supersonic Aircraft Development (SST)”. Following
James E McDonald
’s evidence, Representative Conte provoked laughter in the hearing room by stating, “A man who comes here and tells me that the SST flying in the atmosphere is going to cause thousands of skin cancers has to back up his theory that there are little men flying around the sky”.
