Extra-Terrestrial Exposure Law
On 16 July 1969, the United States adopted Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations (“14 CFR 1211”), since known as the “Extra-Terrestrial Exposure Law”, applicable to “all NASA manned and unmanned space missions which land or come within the atmospheric envelope of a celestial body and return to the Earth”. Revoked in April 1991. (Commonly referred to as “the ET law” or “the ET exposure law”.)
